Class Applications Are Open!
Take the Foundations of New York City // Up to four other classes available // Applications due April 15
Maximum New York’s upcoming class session will run from the week of April 21 through the week of June 16! As always, I will be teaching the marquee class: The Foundations of New York City. You can learn about it, and other potential class offerings, below. Applications are due April 15th.
The Foundations of New York City
The Foundations of New York City is an accelerated introduction to NYC’s government and law. The class will have two sections, one in Manhattan, one in Brooklyn.

Section 2 Time: 6:30-8:30pm, Tuesdays, Downtown Brooklyn; the week of April 21 through the week of June 16 (no class the week of May 26).
Location(s): Downtown Brooklyn and off Herald Square in Manhattan
Prerequisites: None
Completion reqs: final sit-down exam, all homework, no more than two absences
Tuition
The class costs $2,000 per seat. After acceptance, you will receive a Stripe checkout page to pay tuition. You may adjust the cost downward to the extent required for you to afford the class.
Decorous Disagreement
In this seminar-style class, we learn how to read Supreme Court opinions and understand how the court agrees and disagrees. After this class, your life will be divided into a kind of “before and after.” You’ll never look at news headlines about the court the same way again.
This class will be offered Sunday afternoons, last four weeks, and will be offered if at least 10 qualified applicants register their interest through the application linked above.
Other classes I will teach in the fall—but would also teach this summer if desired
I’m currently planning to teach the classes below starting in early September, but I would add a summer section if at least 10 qualified applicants want to take any class. Just indicate your interest on the application form, and I’ll contact interested students to arrange a time/place if enrollment permits.
The Foundations of New York State (8 weeks); see past course announcement.
The Foundations of America (8 weeks); see past course announcement.
A History of New York City Rent Control & Housing (4 weeks); new class!
Civics Lab: Increasing Manhattan via Land Reclamation (4 weeks); new class!
Custom sections
I will teach a custom section of any class for any friend group, company, or institution that has at least 10 interested students. Email me to discuss further: daniel@maximumnewyork.com.
